Lighting blog task
These are both pictures with high-key lighting. It is clear what can be seen and there are less shadows. It depicts top lighting. The imagine above shows a man with a crown on so it could be highlighting the power he holds. The other picture is of a couple and it could to be to expose the passion of their love.
Low-key lighting is used in this picture and only some parts of her face are exposed. This could be to create a sense of mystery. This depicts under lighting.
Film noir research
. Noir means dark in french.
. The darkness in the films symbolises something.
. Flashbacks and cynical heroes are often seen.
This clip is from Double Indemnity which is a classic film of film noir. It is in black and white and there are moments where aggressive key lighting is used in order to create bold contars between light and shadow. Flashbacks are also used which is often a feature in the film noir genre.
